The major exceptions to this are the Majin Tensei and Devil Children series, in which their protagonists all have regular speaking roles even when controlled by the player. The term protagonist (主人公, Shujinkou) ? describes several characters across the Megami Tensei franchise that a player usually uses as a primary character.įor the most part, protagonists are silent when controlled by the player but tend to gain speaking roles once they're not acting as a protagonist anymore or in non-RPG spin-offs.
